Tangerine Leopard Gecko are docile and easy to tame.They make great pet lizards for both beginner's and seasoned reptile owners. They are highly popular and easy to handle pets. great pet for most ages and families. Geckos make great pets and owning them is a very rewarding experience.
Size: Adult females are typically 7 to 8 inches, and males are 8 to 10 inches. Some males of the giant bloodlines reach nearly a foot.
Temperament & Personality: They do not have the sticky toe pads like other geckos, so they do not climb walls. This species does have eyelids unlike other geckos. Leopard geckos are not prone to biting and are usually slow-moving. They have perky personalities and are known to be very vocal, especially when they are hungry. There should only be one male per tank, and only keep males and females together if you are prepared to deal with offspring.
Activity Requirements: Try not to handle to much when first aviving to their new home. allow them to acclimate to their surrounding. Other wise they my become very stress pet. Once acclimated and used to their routine they will look forward to seeing you and get excited at feeding time and attention they recive from you.
Tank Requirements: A 15- to 20-gallon tank is adequate for the leopard geckos. They will need half logs to provide hiding and climbing space. A regular white light incandescent heat bulb could be used to provide a basking spot during the day and a red heat bulb, blue/purple heat bulb, or ceramic heat emitter can be used to provide supplemental heat at night.daytime basking spot of 88 F (31 C) with a thermal gradient down to about 75 F (around 24 C). At night the temperature can drop to a gradient of 70 to 75 F (21 to 24 C). Make sure your gecko is not exposed to any drafts, and do not place the tank next to a window or door. for Substrate use Paper it is absorbent and easy to change, and indoor/outdoor carpet works well, too.
Diet: crickets, waxworms, mealworms, and perhaps an occasional pinkie mouse for large adults. Every other feeding for adults. Insects must be gut loaded for at least 24 hours prior to feeding and then coated with a calcium/D3 supplement at every feeding.
Grooming Requirements: Place a larger water dish inside the cage with fresh water non chorine. They enjoy soaking.
Colors: Leopard geckos are commonly yellow, white, and spotted with black dots. Hatchlings start out more striped and gradually change to the spotted appearance. There are several color and pattern variations called morphs, which include almost every color of the rainbow.
History: Tangerine trait has become fairly common in the nearly 20 years that it's been around, there are a few select lines that have been developed that really stand out. These species/pedigree are the result of a few breeders who acquired the nicest specimens available at the time and then held back the best offspring to further refine and intensify the trait with each successive breeding season.
